We enjoyed celebrating just a fraction our scouts and their families. We are so grateful for the parents and leaders who continue to pour into these kids each week. Thank you to Pack 204 and we are grateful for our partnership! #ScoutsBSA #cubscouts #pack204 #ScoutSunday2025 #churchfamily #church #kids #oakwood #flowerybranch #gainesville #gainesvillega
We are so grateful to the ongoing support of the South Hall Food Bank. We collected food donations over the last couple of weeks to restock the shelves for the new year! We were able to donate approximately 400 lbs of food to serve individuals and families in Hall County! ❤️🙌🏼😇🙏🏼 #mission #food #pantry #foodpantrydonations #church #churchfamily #oakwood #flowerybranch #gainesvillega
The Ship strives to help all ages navigate life and faith with relationship, fellowship, worship, and discipleship. Tonight they met in a member’s home, shared a meal, enjoyed conversation, and served Communion to one another. All ages remembered God’s sacrificial love with the simple elements of classic white bread and juice in a cup. They are simple in that they are common or readily available just like Gods grace is always available to all of us. May we always be grateful for this simple yet profound truth!! ❤️😇🙏🏼 (Even the dog got some grace, too! 😉🐶)
We sure miss our church family this morning! We hope you are well and we invite you to check out Pastor Tyler's Sunday Morning Devotion for a time of scripture reading, reflection, prayer, and song.

As a reminder, everything planned for this Sunday, January 12 will take place next Sunday, January 19 - we hope to see you then!
Out of an abundance of caution, our Leadership Team has decided to cancel this Sunday morning’s activities: 9 a.m. Holy Grounds, 10 a.m. Sunday School Hour, and 11 a.m. Worship. We are not confident that by Sunday morning, conditions will be optimal enough for congregants to travel safely to the church campus. You can look forward to a brief devotional being sent out on Sunday morning via email and on social media for a time of prayer and reflection. Everything planned for this Sunday, January 12 will take place next Sunday, January 19.
We loved ending our Christmas Eve celebration with a congregational candle lighting while singing “Silent Night”. We wish you and your family a wonderful Christmas and offer this blessing: God has come near to dwell among us and make God’s love real to all. 🙏🏼 #christmaseve #candlelight #oakwood #flowerybranch #gainesville
The third Sunday of Advent is about reclaiming joy - even in the difficult days of our lives. We’re grateful for little voices sharing the Word of God and lighting the candles of hope, peace, and joy. May God’s Light shine through each of us as we proclaim the goodness of God and join together in fulfilling God’s promises. 🙏🏼🤍🤍🩷🕯️🕯️🕯️
This evening was filled with the warmth of the Christmas season as we gathered tons of donations - coats, blankets, socks, toiletries, and more! - and raised over $500 dollars to support the homeless ministry through Grace by Time. It’s amazing to see how God makes connections. One of our young adults met Rev. Dr. Wakima Carson through culinary school, where it was discovered that she feeds ~500 people experiencing homelessness every week! 😇 Thank you for all you do Dr. Carson and thank you Lucas for helping us host a great meal for a great cause ❤️🙏🏼 🙌🏼

We were so glad to celebrate some our retired teachers during Retired Educators Day here in GA this morning during worship. We have such a rich history and involvement with education that continues through our local school partnerships! Among our retired teachers we have a total of 255 years of service!! 🙌🏼❤️📚🎓
Be sure to share some love in the comments
We’re so happy to welcome Cristina Rubio as our new Coordinator for Next Generation! She brings with her a wealth of enthusiasm, experience, and ideas! We look forward to all the ways she will help us reach, care, and nurture the Next Generation at such a time and place as this! 🙌🏼🙏🏼❤️😇

What a wonderful morning of worship celebrating World Communion Sunday - remembering that we are not the only church (thanks be to God!) and that the power and presence of Holy Spirit is on display in every person and every place where God reigns. 🕊️😇
Although we don’t see the fullness of the Kingdom yet, what we do see is the people of God not giving up! 🙏🏼
We enjoyed sharing, singing, and listening to other languages throughout worship. AND we enjoyed the little hands helping to serve God’s grace ❤️

We’re back with our Holy Grounds worship experience with all generations present together! We’re grateful for the lay members of our church leading music and our discussions of life and faith for all ages! 🙌🏼😇❤️
If you haven’t come by for this special service at 9 am, come check us out! We’ve also have another service at 11 am that is a different format and style but still full of Jesus and the Spirit. 🕊️
UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) continues to coordinate both donation and volunteer opportunities in response to Hurricane Helene. You can give through our church website (www.mceverumc.org/give) by selecting “UMCOR” from the drop down menu (100% of your donation goes to the work of disaster relief).
In addition, from now until this Sunday, October 6, they are requesting donations of tarps, large black trash bags, and water. Please only deliver the specifically requested items to the following drop-off locations (Gainesville First UMC https://www.gfumc.com/ - or Jefferson First UMC - https://www.jfumc.org/) at the time specified on each church's website.
Find other volunteer opportunities and ongoing updates on how to serve at https://www.ngumc.org/newsdetail/disaster-response-update-flooding-18666291
We had a blast with all generations having fun in the sun with our “pizza hut!” Tonight was our Pizza Movie Night and although the movie was a treat, there was even more fun and excitement as both kids and parents enthusiastically crafted their very own personal pizzas - yum! 🍕😋 We learned a lot and can’t wait to do it again soon! 🙌🏼😎
What a great way to “dive” back into Scouts! Not enough parents got wet so the kiddos were sure to soak parents with water blasters and “hug attacks.” Of course, parents got their revenge, too 😉🪣🌊😱😆🙌🏼

We were grateful that lots of congregants from our church as well as from other local churches gathered yesterday evening for a volunteer appreciation dinner at Oakwood United Methodist Church and the South Hall Food Pantry. In addition to a great time of fellowship, attendees were introduced to the launch of a new “client choice” model for families at the food pantry. Families will now be able to “shop” for food and ingredients that they prefer and enjoy.
Our church will be the first at this pantry’s location to roll out this new model! Prayers for smooth experience for both volunteers and families. If you’d like to help, you can serve this week Monday, August 5 from 4-6 pm, Thursday, August 8 from 10 am - 12 pm, and Saturday, August 10 from 10 am - 12 pm. ❤️😇

We had a great time putting extra smiles on the teachers and staff of West Hall Middle School this morning as they got back in the swing of things! Nothing like a huge, home-cooked breakfast spread to get you fueled up for the big day!! 😋😎😇
We pray blessings on all Hall County Schools as they get back to the hard work of teaching and caring for students and families! 🙏🏼

The creativity and heart of our Craft & Quilting Squad who made and delivered 9 quilts for foster children at Wellroot! We hope they feel the love of God wrapped around them just as much as these blankets! 🧶🧵🥰🙌🏼

Lots of smiling faces this morning as kiddos participated in relay races, a nature scavenger hunt, painting/crafting, AND celebrating a birthday with a piñata - Feliz Cumpleaños!! 🥳🎂🪅
Today we talked about growing in God’s love! 🌱 And how to be doers of God’s kindness and not just hearers. 😇

Today was bitter sweet - we had the joy of welcoming new members - John and Lori McCandlish - this morning (yay!), but we also said goodbye to Pastor Chris and his family as this was their last Sunday with us before they transition to their new church home at Trinity UMC in Clermont, GA.
Be sure to welcome the McCandlish’s and wish Pastor Chris and his family well! 🙏🏼
We had another great day of Summer Explorers learning about God’s presence that gives us peace! We walked the trails, colored, played games, planted flowers, and started our stepping stone project! During snack time we listened to scripture readings from Psalm 23, Psalm 50, and Psalm 119 and learned how God is always with us and God is always for us!! ❤️😇🙌🏼
Thanks again to our partners in ministry Flowery Branch UMC and Oakwood UMC!
#oakwood #flowerybranch #gainesville #kids #summer
We had a GREAT first day of Summer Explorers with crafting, snacking, hiking, exploring, and gaming!! Lots of excited kiddos and enthusiastic volunteers to make it a memorable experience! Shout out to Flowery Branch UMC and Oakwood UMC for joining in on the fun!
If you have kids or grandkids who are ages 4 through 5th grade, then join us next Wednesday, June 19 from 9 am - 12 pm for another great day of exploration! 🙌🏼
It must be officially summer! 😎☀️⛱️ We enjoyed hosting all of the teachers and staff of West Hall Middle School for their end of school year luncheon!! 😋 We love the opportunity to serve whether on our own campus or out in the community! Thank you WMMS for being partners with us for supporting our neighbors and families! #westhallmiddleschool #gainesville #flowerybranch #oakwood

What a joy to worship and celebrate our church’s 50th year anniversary with members, family, and friends spanning the decades. We appreciated a wonderful variety of songs, stories from one of our charter members and others, a reflection from our Pastor Emeritus, Rev. Don Cooper, beautiful liturgies of remembrance and thanksgiving, Holy Communion, and a whole lot of food! Thank you to everyone who was involved in the planning and execution for the day - We couldn’t have done without each of you!! And thank you to our District Superintendent, Rev. Dr. Doug Gilreath and his wife for joining and participating! 🙌🏼
We give God thanks for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit 50 years ago, for pouring it out anew for us today, and for pouring it out in the many days and years to come. 🙏🏼😇🕊️
We will ALWAYS Love Christ. Love People. and Help People Love Christ. ✝️❤️

Happy Monday! The rain won’t keep the light from shining on this good news!! We partnered with West Hall High School again this year to raise $600 to cover expenses related to graduation and sports for seniors. Funds given will help pay for cap and gowns for students in need as well as offer a little extra to cover sport equipment and dues. 🎓❤️🏅
Pastor Tyler was able to hand-deliver a check totaling $845 to Principle Ley Hathcock earlier this afternoon!
We love supporting our schools in a number of ways and this is an opportunity we look forward to every year! We wish the best for these seniors and all that is to come! 🙌🏼😇
The weather isn't the only thing heating up! 🔥 Our ROMEOs have been working on all sorts of projects lately, including building an earthen oven in the garden - wow! This means we'll be able to enjoy all kinds of barbecue, pizza-making, and more! 🐷🐮🍕 We're thinking about nicknaming it the "pizza hut" - what do you think? 😉
We look forward to this being another great way to bring our community together for fun, food, and fellowship! 🙌🏼 #CommunityGarden #oakwood #flowerybranch #gainesville
What a great way to start a Wednesday serving breakfast for the teachers of West Hall Middle School this morning! They came hungry! 🍽️😋 Nothing like full tummies and happy faces as early as 8 in the morning - can you believe it?! God really can do anything!! 😉 Seriously, we are grateful for these teachers and this was just a small way to encourage them they enter the last couple of weeks of the school year - keep going teachers!! 🙏🏼 Principle Amy Wade gave Pastor Tyler two WHMS spirit shirts to thank us for providing such a yummy spread for breakfast! We are grateful for our ongoing partnership 🤩🙌🏼
We love it when we can partner with our sibling churches to do MORE good together! Shout out to pastors and team members from Flowery Branch UMC and Oakwood UMC, who joined us for some preliminary planning for our highly anticipated Summer Explorers enrichment camp staring in June!! Stay tuned for more details and be sure to invite friends and neighbors!
There's nothing like brightening a person's day with a song! 🎶 Earlier this week two of our members played and sang songs for residents at Manor Lake, who enjoyed listening (and humming!) along during this mini-concert. ❤️ We're grateful for these members spreading joy on a beautiful Spring day and for a captive audience!! 😇
Earlier this morning was also Announcement Sunday, where our congregation was informed that Pastor Tyler will be staying for another year while Pastor Chris has been appointed to become the senior pastor at Trinity UMC in Clermont, GA! It’s a bitter-sweet announcement as we have been blessed with the ministry that Pastor Chris has led with us the past several years but we are so excited to see him continue into this next season of ministry. We will celebrate him and his family in the weeks to come (announcement TBD) but be sure to offer words of encouragement and love to him and his family while we cherish these moments together until his move later in June. 🙏🏼🙌🏼😇
What a joyful Sunday celebrating two sacraments this morning - Baptism and Communion! We welcomed both Abigail and Rylee into the family of God this morning (AND they were such good helpers 😉)!! 💧😇🙌🏼 We’re so grateful for all the ways God’s grace is at work in our lives to help bring us together and stay together! ❤️
Wow! What a beautiful Resurrection celebration throughout this morning with Easter Sunrise, Pancake Breakfast, and Easter Service! Be sure to check out the Easter-selfie with the congregation and all the other fun moments that captured our blessed time together. ☺️
Even if you didn’t join us this morning, we want you to know your story can change BECAUSE Jesus is standing outside the tomb!! ❤️✝️🙌🏼😇❤️
Lots of fun in the sun celebrating Easter with 100+ of our neighbors and community! 🙌🏼😎🍬✝️
We can’t wait to continue the celebration with you tomorrow in the following ways:
- Easter Sunrise 🌅 @ 7AM in the Community Garden
- Easter Pancake Breakfast 🥞 @ 8AM in Pavilion (serving till 9:15AM, clean up by 10:15AM)
- Easter Service 🌸 @ 11 AM in Pavilion
We hope to see you tomorrow morning to celebrate Jesus and the Resurrection - where the worst parts of our story don’t have to be the end of our story!!! ❤️✝️❤️
Last night we observed Holy (Maundy) Thursday with a service of washing hands and communion — both are symbols of Christ’s enduring, sacrificial love that we, as his followers, are called to embody, too. Christ came to serve and not be served, and so we not only remember what God has done through Christ but we also respond to God’s grace by humbling ourselves and lifting up the wellbeing of those around us, including our enemies.
We remember the last meal Jesus shared with his disciples and him washing their feet, and today - Good Friday - we sit in the grief of Jesus’ suffering and death on the Cross. ✝️
What a joy to celebrate the groundbreaking for the new elementary school being built next door to our campus for both the Oakwood and McEver Arts Academy students. We’re grateful for our ongoing partnership and all the possibilities to bless students and their families in the days and years to come! 🏫🎓🙌🏼😇🙏🏼
Looks like our little leaders had too much fun waving palms and singing “Hosannah” this morning! 🌿👋🏼🤩😇
We observed together the start of this Holy Week, where we hold in tension the weight of the cross and the freedom of Resurrection that is to come! Be sure to join us for all our worship services and activities throughout this week 🙏🏼
We placed some crosses out on the “hill” just in time for Holy Week - a sign that the worst parts of our stories are never the end of our story! Be sure to check out our FB events to see all the exciting things we have going on at the end of the month!
Thanks to our Tuesday Crew for making the crosses and installing them! 😇🙏🏼
Ash Wednesday kicks off the season of Lent where we intentionally draw close to God as God draws close to us. The ashes symbolize our brokenness, death, and grief. The ashes are mixed with oil and we make the “sign of the cross,” which is marked on our foreheads. These symbols together represent our healing and anointing that God brings in the midst of our brokenness. We then are invited to make “room” in our lives for more of God and we “pause” something - or fast - to focus more on God and God’s presence. What are you pausing/fasting from this Lent? Let us know in the comments!
Our Leadership Team retreat was a time for sharing, teaching, and inspiration. A smaller group ended up finishing the evening on a high note with some bowling!! 🎳💥🏆 Although not everyone is pictured, we’re grateful for each person saying, “Yes,” to God’s call and we are excited about where God is leading us throughout the rest of 2024! 🙌🏼
We are so grateful to celebrate one of our staff member’s retirement after 17 years of putting up with us! 😆 But seriously, we can’t say thank you enough for Angela’s care, humor, and faithfulness! 🤩😇❤️ We hope 2024 is an exciting year for her and her husband! Be sure to leave a “Congratulations” for Angela in the comments!
We can’t forget about sharing with you our new members who joined just the other day! Say, “Hello” and “Welcome” to Bob and Susan! 🙌🏼
We ask new members to share their answers to three questions. You can read Bob and Susan's answers below:
1. What made you stay when you first visited McEver Road Church? We kept coming back to McEver because we quickly felt welcome there, the campus is beautiful and the location is convenient.
2. What made you want to join McEver Road Church? We wanted to join McEver because the smaller size lends itself to a family atmosphere. We both found areas of interest where we could volunteer.
3. What are your hopes for McEver Road Church?
The church is in a high growth area and we hope to meet more new members. We also look forward to further development of the property.
We're so glad to have had some of our core members of our School Partnership Team meet earlier this afternoon with Principal Wade and Assistant Principal Foster over at West Hall Middle to explore opportunities to strengthen our partnership with them. It was an encouraging time learning how big their hearts are for their students and we can't wait to help with all the good they are already doing!! ❤️🏫🎓
Cub Scout Pack 204 had a very merry Christmas party last night! There were games, awards, hot cocoa, crafts, and cookies - LOTS of cookies for the great cookie exchange! 🍪 We also had a special visitor come to take pictures with families! 🎅🏼 He was also the judge for the Den Leader snowman contest. ☃️ Which Den do you think won?! Let us know in the comments!!
We enjoyed our first evening back with Family Promise of Hall County serving up some classic hotdogs, beans, and tots! 🌭😋 Shout out to a great team and the awesome families for a wonderful evening! 🙌🏼
By the way, we can’t wait to be a part of the Family Promise ribbon cutting in just a couple of weeks! 💯
These sorties of faith the last couple of weeks have been so heart-felt and encouraging! Thanks to two of our congregants, Linda and Bee, for sharing their stories of thanksgiving in all things this morning during one of our worship services! “The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease.” (Lamentations 3:22, NLT)
Whoop whoop! It'a another new member introduction! Say, "Hello" to Lucas. We ask new members to share their answers to three questions. You can read Lucas' answers below, who kept them short and sweet, lol.
Welcome to our church family, Lucas!!
1. What made you stay when you first visited McEver Road Church?
The community is amazing!!
2. What made you want to join McEver Road Church?
God.
3. What are your hopes for McEver Road Church?
That we grow stronger and closer in faith.
Another Sunday to be grateful for as we heard a story of faith, welcomed new visitors, celebrated another member joining our congregation, AND our “Grateful Feast and Vision Share” lunch, where we highlighted all the the good God has done so far this year in and through our church as well as looked ahead to the future! Thanks to everyone who came, ate, and listened to how God is leading us to love, serve, and BE the church for a brighter tomorrow!! 🙌🏼🙏🏼😇
Shout out to one of our members, Mike Stewart, who completely renovated this 1965 Bolens 1250 Tractor! Thank you to Chris Tatum for the donation. We're already beginning to put the tractor to work and we have big plans for it's use throughout next year for our Community Garden and the rest of our property 🙌🏼
Last but certainly not least - it was a joy to welcome 5 new members this past Sunday! Say, "Welcome" to David!! We asked each member to share their answers to three questions. You can read David's answers below.
Also, be sure to show some love in the comments for David and his renewed commitment to Jesus and to serving our community through our church!!
1. What made you stay when you first visited McEver Road Church?
What made me stay was the friendly, outgoing people I met on the first visit. The pastors and congregants showed an interest in me and seemed genuine when greeting and welcoming me.
2. What made you want to join McEver Road Church?
I wanted to join, which was a decision I did not take lightly. I like to be involved with like-minded people, who share a common vision and an uplifting spirit. This is not something you can determine after a couple of visits, but usually requires the test of time. This church has shown that it is Christ driven and has a desire to nurture people at the level that their relationship is with Christ, as well as help them grow in that relationship. When you join a church, you are not joining a building. You are joining with the people to become the church. Each person is a vital building block in the composition of what becomes a church.
3. What are your hopes for McEver Road Church?
I hope to be a strong building block in the composition of the church. I hope to help this church grow, in membership as well as in the community. My hope and prayer is that this church becomes a shining light in the community, that will attract other belivers in Christ, like a lighthouse shining in the dark to help lost travellers find their way back!
Round #3! It was a joy to welcome 5 new members this past Sunday! Say, "Hello" to Jane and Morris!! We asked each member to share their answers to three questions. You can read Jane and Morris' answers below.
Also, be sure to show some love in the comments for Jane and Morris and their renewed commitment to Jesus and to serving our community through our church!!
1. What made you stay when you first visited McEver Road Church?
I really liked the pastors; also, I loved the setting of the church and the way volunteers from the congregation came together to build the pavilion and so many other features of our campus.
2. What made you want to join McEver Road Church?
After spending some time worshipping at McEver Road, I knew it was time to become an official to fully commit and serve.
3. What are your hopes for McEver Road Church?
I hope and believe that McEver will play a significant role in our surrounding community. What excites me is the really fresh approach to faithful living that is emerging.
It was a joy to welcome 5 new members this past Sunday! Say, "Hello" to Pam!! We asked each member to share their answers to three questions. You can read Pam's answers below.
Also, be sure to show some love in the comments for Pam and her renewed commitment to Jesus and to serving our community through our church!!
1. What made you stay when you first visited McEver Road Church?
The friendliness of the people at the church, it was very welcoming and comfortable from the first time we came in and sat down.
2. What made you want to join McEver Road Church?
I felt like I have found a home here, with a family-like atmosphere. Plus with all the community activities, it is also a fun place to be.
3. What are your hopes for McEver Road Church?
To continue to grow as a congregation, as we all work together to become closer to God.
It was a joy to welcome 5 new members this past Sunday! Meet John, who was baptized into the family of God. We asked each member to share their answers to three questions. You can read John's answers below.
Also, be sure to show some love in the comments for John and his commitment to Jesus and to serving our community through our church!!
1. What made you stay when you first visited McEver Road Church?
It had been a long time since I had seen a family church and wasn't sure they still existed. I stayed because this is my wife's childhood church and I liked its direction.
2. What made you want to join McEver Road Church?
I had been thinking about it and I felt like if I really want to help this church succeed, I should kind of put my money where my mouth is.
3. What are your hopes for McEver Road Church?
That it continues to welcome all-comers. That it continues to welcome them like family. That it will always look outward and not be closed off to the community.
What an amazing, faith-filled Sunday! We welcomed 5 new members, including one baptism! 🙏🏼💧😇 We also recognized All Saints (pausing to remember those faith-filled folks who have poured into and shaped us but have passed away) during our celebration of Communion. We also had a story of faith shared from one of our charter members of our church. 🤩 ❤️🙌🏼 That’s a lot of church “stuff” but what it boils down to is that we are GRATEFUL for all that God has done, is doing, and will do!! 🥰
Happy Halloween! What an amazing time we had at Trunk-R-Treat we had this past Sunday! Thank you to Oakwood Police Dept, the city of Oakwood, UNG- Gainesville, Oakwood First UMC, Hope Fellowship Presbyterian, McEver Rd Church, and all the folks that showed up. Congratulations to our kiddos best costume, chili cookoff winner, and best decorated trunk. The weather was great and it was great day to be in community together.
Last Saturday was so much fun with our Halloween Costume Paw-ty for both pets and humans! Cookie-crafting, potion-making, pet blessing, and Photo Booth fun! 🐶🦴🕸️🕷️🎃🧙♂️🙌🏼 (Shout out to Pet Supplies Plus and Pet Pleasers Bakery for their awesome donations for the grand-prize pet costume contest winners!! 😉🧡)
