Dinner Church?

Angela Ivey • February 16, 2023

Dinner Church is a way of doing church differently, designed specifically for people who wouldn't show up on Sunday. Much of Jesus’ ministry took place around the dinner table. Parables were told, connections were made, people were healed, all around the dinner table of Jesus. As McEver Rd Church continues to be led by the Holy Spirit, we feel called to start this new way of reaching out to our community. If you are interested in being involved in the launching of this new ministry, there will be a meeting right after the 11:00 service inside the Bagley House on February 26th to answer questions and share more about this opportunity.

“Church history reveals that when the church was holding tightly to the Jesus dinner table theology, sinners, strangers, pagans, and the poor were swept into the Kingdom of God. This is undoubtedly why the first Evangelist, Jesus himself, embedded the gospel into the time and place of the dinner table. Any church…that embraces that again will witness a divine spark come alive at their tables, and soon their rooms will fill up with more sinners than they have probably seen in years. There is something unexplainable that occurs when sinners and saints eat dinner together, talk about Jesus together, and witness the divine interventions of the Lord together. That is the dinner church, and it is beautiful.”
